So here I am, Saturday noon all alone in the office, working on bits and pieces of things that I would like to put together before I leave for the August family holiday break… Still thinking about what Margarita asked me yesterday: “How can this handful of people do such an impressive amount of work during August?”
So what keeps me busy these last working hours, before I depart for a few more days in the sunny Greek islands?
- Taking a look at the new version of AKstem.com that Panagis is working on, so that I provide him with a description of the core services that we will offer (Open, Share, Use, Map), in order to be ready for the September launch.
- Studying the current FAO web site on Technologies and Practices for Small Agricultural Producers (TECA) and thinking about how we are going to help the FAO Research & Extension Unit re-vamp it into an information and practices hub for smallholder owners.
- Finalising the agenda and taking care of last-minute invitations for the upcoming meeting of the Research Data Alliance (RDA) Agriculture Data Interest Group (IGAD), where a dedicated session on big data will take place with support from the Big Data Europe project. This will take place late September in Paris.
- Listening to some recently discovered British bands and looking forward to the November ODI Summit that will celebrate Generation Open in London.
Back to work. Crete is waiting.
