This year, the European Distance and e-Learning Network‘s (EDEN) Open Classroom is collocated with the Open Discovery Space (ODS) Conference titled “Transforming schools into innovative learning organisations“. The 3-day Conference will take place between 18‐21 September 2015 in Athens, Greece, at the premises of Ellinogermaniki Agogi. It will be hosted by the Open Discovery Space, DigiSkills and GreeNET projects.
Agro-Know, in collaboration with the Greek Research & Technology Network (GRNET) is participating in both the ODS and the GreeNET project and we decided to prepare a submission for the Conference. In this direction, we worked on a paper titled “Environmental Education through Enquiry and Technology: the case of the GreeNET project“.
The paper discusses the need for green educators to be constantly on top of the technological advances in their teaching field(s) and how the GreeNET project’s outcomes can help them in their teaching activities. More specifically, the paper describes the following three major outcomes of the GreeNET project:
- The GreeNET Inventory, which allows users to:
a) Search for quality online resources on various green topics.
b) Get inspiring ideas through the organization of creative activities in their schools.
c) Get guidance through the authoring process of best practices for their classroom.
d) Create their own school portal(s) on green ideas and projects sharing locally or in public the outcomes of their work
- The GreeNET Best Practice Authoring tool; a tools that provides the user environment for developing and describing new Best Practices and at the same time a digital repository of educational scenarios and digital resources.
- The GreeNET Moodle instance, an adapted Moodle instance that allows users, such as teachers and other educators, to access all best practices and OER that are available through the GreeNET Inventory and make use of them in their Moodle-based online courses.
The paper will be presented on Sunday, September 20th, 2015; if you plan to join us, you need to complete the registration form before Tuesday September 15th, 2015!
